Readr 1.3.1 is now available on CRAN! Learn more about readr at notes are always in the change log. The readr package makes it easy to get rectangular data out of comma separated (csv), tab separated (tsv) or fixed width files (fwf) and into R.
Read xls and xlsx files
read_excel() calls excel_format() to determine if path is xls or xlsx,based on the file extension and the file itself, in that order. Useread_xls() and read_xlsx() directly if you know better and want toprevent such guessing.
